In Conversation: G100 Visionary Sima Samar
On March 7, 2024, the Genius 100 Foundation proudly hosted an intimate and thought-provoking Intellectual Jazz session, featuring G100 Visionary Dr. Sima Samar and renowned Canadian journalist Sally Armstrong. The evening, set in the warm and inviting home of the Co-Founder of the Parlour Series, Nadine Rubin, centered around the remarkable story behind Sima’s book Outspoken: My Fight for Freedom and Human Rights in Afghanistan, a compelling memoir co-written with Sally.
Dr. Samar, a trailblazer for human rights and a relentless advocate for women in Afghanistan, shared her extraordinary journey of resilience, courage, and impact. The discussion guided by G100's Helen Hatzis, explored the book’s themes of activism, leadership, and the urgent need for gender equality in some of the world’s most challenging contexts.
Guests were treated to a welcoming atmosphere of meaningful conversation and cultural connection, accompanied by traditional Afghan baked goods and green tea. Ben McNally of McNally Books was on hand to offer signed copies of Outspoken, giving attendees the opportunity to further engage with Sima’s inspirational story.
This unforgettable evening exemplified the Genius 100 Foundation’s commitment to fostering dialogue, celebrating visionaries, and amplifying efforts toward a more equitable and compassionate world.
